NARL RACING RULES AND REGULATIONS
Upon the initial start and each restart ALL CARS ARE TO BE WITH IN 1 SECOND OF CAR IN FRONT ( WATCH YOUR F2 BUTTON). There will be no passing allowed until turn 1, but is permited on OUTSIDE ONLY before then but AFTER START / FINISH LINE. It is each driver's responsibility to feather the throttle and allow cars ahead to settle in line before attempting to pass. If you cause a caution trying to pass through turn 1 & 2 on start or re-start and wreck another car by being wreckless, overdriving, etc. you maybe asked to leave the race at the momment (PASS SAFETLY).
However, the ONLY exceptions to this:
1. The driver in front tells the ADMINS and YOU to pass him or her.
2. The car in front lost a gear or has lost a gear.
3. The car in front spinds tires on start or re-start.
Remember as well that there is to be no racing back to the yellow until there are 10 laps to go or less. With 10 or less laps to go on a restart you may pass High or Low ONLY after start/finish line. If you cause a caution and wreck another car doing so please park it at that moment.
When slowing for a caution please do not slow abruptly or keep a high rate of speed to try and catch the pace line. Simply throw up a slowing for C autochat msg and lift.
Drivers who cause a C (Caution):
If you cause a C please call it. The first C results in an EOLL (End Of Longest Line). The best way to achieve an EOLL penalty is to speed entering pit road. Please do this safetly. Second C by same driver will result in a mandatory retirement from on track activities. Please enter pit road safely and retire.
Drivers who are eligible for the LD (Lucky Dog):
When a caution flies please safely and courteously slow to pace speed and fall in line. If you are the LD please pit the first time by pit road when it opens. Now you must achieve an EOLL. The easiest way to do this is to speed on aproach to your pit stall. When you exit you will be given an EOLL penalty and be asked to moved to the rear.
Drivers who are a lap or more down
If you are caught a lap or more down and you are not eligible for the LD you are a lapper. Lappers must pit the second or third pass by pit road and acheive an EOLL. ALL LAP CARS MUST BE AT THE END OF LONGEST LINE BEFORE THE RESTART, ALWAYS. The easiest way to do this is to speed on aproach to your pit stall. When you exit you will be given an EOLL penalty and be asked to move to the rear.
*Remember as well that there is to be no racing back to the yellow until there are 10 laps to go or less. And when slowing for a caution please do not slow abruptly or keep a high rate of speed to try and catch the pace line. Simply throw up a slowing for C autochat msg and lift.
SPORTSMANSHIP, COURTESY, and RESPECT
The North American Racing League was designed to bring together sim racers who share a passion for exciting online racing. Each and every member is expected to demonstrate excellent sportsmanship, courtesy and respect toward fellow league members on, and off of the track; all while abiding by the following code of conduct:
1 | The use of foul language and/or related acts which
may upset fellow members is strictly prohibited.
2 | The use of any discrimination toward a member's
race, religion, gender, etc.., is strictly prohibited.
3 | Every member shall respect the privacy of fellow
colleagues and restrain from any interference.
4 | Cheating will not be tolorated. Anybody caught cheating
will be immediately removed from the league.
Each and every member of NARL will be expected to execute an outstanding level of sportsmanship, courtesy and respect on and off of the track, whether on the NARL Racing Server or any other. There is a fine line between driving fast and having control of your machine, so it is very understandable that mistakes will happen, even to the best of us. If involved in an accident with a fellow driver, and you are at fault, it is strongly recommended that you apologize for your actions ASAP. The auto-chat messages, found in your in-game options, are equipped with ten common message by default. These auto-chat messages are able to be edited to personalize your gaming experience, however, it is asked that you create a 'Sorry' and a 'No Problem' message of some sort to be used in the event of an accident. On-track retaliation and/or the wrecking of fellow drivers with intension will result in a series of penalties or a termination of membership. Caution flags are a standard inclusion of any race, solely based on the fact that mistakes can and will happen from time to time. This does not disturb the fact that every NARL race shall be driven in a clean and courteous manner by every member who participates in each event. Respect is an aspect that must be earned, not forced, so members are urged to treat their colleagues as they themselves would expect to be treated.
RACING ETIQUETTE
*On the initial drop of the green flag as well as on every restart there is to be no passing made to better your position before turn one, unless there is an accident/mechanical failure concerning another driver(s). On the event of a caution, drivers are to slowly ease from speed and stay in line until gathered by the pace vehicle. There is to be no racing back to a yellow flag, unless there is ten laps or less remaining in the race. The driver who is scored as the first car one lap down when a caution occurs is subject to receive the 'Lucky Dog', which represents a free ticket back on to the lead lap. Drivers must use their auto-chat messages every time they enter and exiting the pits, when their car is running slower compared to the opposition and every time they are involved in an accident to either apologize and/or to acknowledge the receipt.
****With 10 or less laps to go on a restart you may pass High or Low ONLY after start/finish line. If you cause a caution and wreck another car doing so please park it at that moment.
When slowing for a caution please do not slow abruptly or keep a high rate of speed to try and catch the pace line. Simply throw up a slowing for C autochat msg and lift.
STEERING DEVICES
Each driver must use a wheel with pedals. Using a Keyboard or game controller/pad will not be allowed.
PENALTIES
The intensity of any penalties ruled to be enforced will be chosen and voted upon by the administration. These penalties range from prohibition to qualify for the following race, loss of a lap(s) at an upcoming event, minor point deductions, and race suspension(s). Acts such as the intentional punting of a fellow member, causing them to lose control and jeopardize the integrity of their performance; using unacceptable behavior on track or in chat that might be found as inappropriate or unwelcome to other members; causing cautions intentionally in any way for benefit by yourself or any other member can be used as terms of penalty enforcement.
SCORING
Members that will be unable to attend a specified race(s) must let the administrator know prior to the start of the event. This is for the reception of provisional points, which apply toward overall member and team standings. Drivers will be allotted four provisionals per NARL season. However, if there is a lack of knowledge concerning absent drivers at the start of qualifying for any event, no provisional points will be awarded. All finalized race standings are to be exported and remain unedited, unless decided to be altered by the administration. The standard NASCAR points system is our method of scoring, along with the use of NARL specialized bonus points which are awarded every race for various achievments.
ISSUES CONCERNING WARPING/DISCONNECTIONS
Any member(s) that might be experiencing problems with warp are asked to disconnect and then reconnect to the server to resolve the issue. If the situation persists, that member is suggested to retire from the current session/event to eliminate any problems being inflicted upon other drivers. Last place points are awarded to all drivers suffering from the issue of warp, as long as they have qualified for the event. Any member(s) that might be experiencing problems with spontaneous disconnections from the server, after qualifying is complete, will be prohibited from participating in the current event. If a driver loses connection after the race has gone green, they shall be allowed one attempt to reconnect to the server and return to the track. If the connection is lost a second time, that driver may reconnect to the server, but may not return to the track for any reason.
DRIVER INCIDENT POINTS PROGRAM
NARL runs a point system which rewards those that race clean and penalizes those that don't. All incidents will be reviewed by the admin to determine the severity of the penalty. Here's how it works:
1) Every driver begins the season with 18 points.
2) Finish a race without causing a caution or causing another car to wreck and you will be awarded 3 points.
3) If you do cause a caution and another car is not involved (EX: Self Spin, or hitting the wall...ect) you will have 1 point deducted.
4) If you cause an accident where another car or multiple cars are involved the incident will be reviewed by an admin panel to determine the severity of the incident. If it was nothing more than an accidental incident then one could expect a 1 point penalty. However, if it was an incident that could of easily been avoided or just a plain wreckless or flagrant move, you can expect to be docked 5 points.
5) If a driver reaches 0 or below that driver must serve a suspension for the following race. The driver will then be eligible to participate in the next race after serving the suspension but will start the race with the same amount of points. EX: Driver X has 4 points starting a race. He causes a 3 car pile up and has 5 points deducted from his overall Incident Points. Driver X now has a total of -1 incident points. Driver X must sit out the next race. When Driver X comes back the following race he must then race an incident free race to gain 3 points thus making him eligible for future races.
6) It is this league's intention for everybody to race and more importantly to have fun while doing so. Rest assured that each indivdual incident will be reviewed thoroughly and more important, fairly. Whatever the outcome, the admins decision is FINAL.
